The Knowledge Economy and Innovation (KE&I) sub-programme within the Economic Planning Programme of the Department of Economic Development and Tourism (DEDaT) held an ICT Open day for SMME’s at the Kimberley Diamond and Jewellery Academy (KIDJA )on Friday, 8 April 2016.
KE&I purchased a 20 laptop mobile trolley with a WiFi router to provide ICT training in the most remote locations in the Province. One of the laptops acts as a server and has been loaded with an open source version of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tool. The ERP Tool contains a wide range of business related information and tools including among others: Project Management, Accounting and Finance, Sales Management, Leave Management, Purchase Management, Employee Directory, Timesheets and Expense Management that could prove to be an invaluable tool for SMME’s.
This Open Day was arranged to allow stakeholders to view the product and system, and provide insight into how the product may be optimally utilised to stimulate our SMMEs to enter the digital era.
